Who is K. Raila?
K. Raila grew up in Cambridge, MA, where she attended a dual immersion English/Spanish program from kindergarten, which sparked a lifelong interest in languages and culture. She currently studies Japanese, and has studied abroad in Hirakata, Japan. She first gained an interest in the visual arts from Janelle Beard, who introduced her to painting with acrylics at the age of 3. Her interest in art was nurtured through summer art programs and extracurricular film studies at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston. At Bennington College, she began investigating animation, which has since become her main focus within the arts. She is currently working on a series of animations based on mythology from ancient Greece, Rome, and Japan.
